Our mission is to create a spiritual space that is accessible and welcoming to all. The Sakinah Institute welcomes all to embark on the journey along the path of sacred learning that is embedded in the unbroken chain of scholarship back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. 

Our vision is to organically grow a dynamic Muslim community and to create an environment that is conducive to the spiritual, mental and physical well-being of our community.

Social and Spiritual Book Club

Sakinah Institute hosts an engaging, in-person monthly book club meeting, where members of the community enjoy sharing their favorite passages and reflections. Register below to get all the details for upcoming meetings! Ustadh Kaiser Aslam is leading the book club!

Gems of the Qur'an (Tafsir class)

Sakinah Institute hosts a weekly Qur'anic Tafsir class for sisters only, taught by Ustadha Kiashe Pugh. The class is currently meeting virtually on Zoom, every Sunday at 11am ET.

Monthly Halaqa

Sakinah Institute hosts an enlightening in-person monthly halaqa with Shaykh Yasir Fahmy and Dr. Shadee Elmasry, where members of the community learn and reflect on wisdoms shared by the shaykh.  

Sakinah Outings

Sakinah Institute hosts regular outings that aim to strengthen our bonds within our community. In March, we held a ping-pong tournament in River Edge!

Community Programs

Sakinah Institute hosts community programs geared towards the betterment of the community. Past programs include topics such as community building, psycho-spiritual wellness, and the American-Muslim identity. Speakers have included Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Hamza Maqbool, Ibn Ali Miller, and Dr. Menahal Begawala. Keep an eye out for announcements of upcoming programs!
